Networking, education top reasons for PPI TS19
In a recent survey, PPI Transport Symposium remains a high priority and a must-attend event for IFPTA Members.

IFPTA Members responded in a recent survey that PPI Transport Symposium is a “must attend event” and a great opportunity to network. More than 95% of respondents said they would definitely or probably attend PPI Transport Symposium 19 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Over 40% responded that networking opportunities was the primary reason they attended the Symposium. Nearly 35% responded that education was their top priority.
The responses were gathered from the PPI Transport Symposium 19 Conference Survey sent to all IFPTA Members during October 2010. Approximately 25% of all active IFPTA Members responded, one of the highest response rates of any IFPTA Survey, indicating the high level of interest in the Symposium. The survey asked for responses on conference topics, reasons for attending, different aspects about the event, as well as any general comments on the Symposium.
Some of the general comments received were “PPI Transport Symposium is a must-attend event;” “Great opportunity to network;” “Prefer panel discussions instead of stand-alone speeches;” “No sales pitches;” “Would like to see more producers in attendance - and in the panel discussions;” “Sustainability is growing more and more important;” “What is happening in China, India and Russia?” “Return to North America next time;” and “Please make it affordable to attend.”
According to the survey, the highest level of interest for panel discussions at PPI Transport Symposium 19 were:
1. Carriers Panel
2. Pulp Panel - with a focus on China & Asia
3. Paper and Packaging Panel - with a focus on transport issue from mill to customer
4. Biomass and Biofuels Panel
5. Forwarders and Logistics Panel
6. Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) Panel

PPI Transport Symposium is the longest running conference and exhibition dedicated to the global forest products transport industry. Organized by RISI, in association with the IFPTA, the Symposium focuses on the issues surrounding the worldwide transport, materials handling, and distribution of forest products.
PPI Transport Symposium 19 will be held October 11 − 14, 2011 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
