CSX Transportation counts rail at the Port of Wilmington

CSX Transportation (CSXT) representatives from Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina took inventory of rail they import at the Port of Wilmington during their visit on September 13.

“The reason for taking periodic inventories is to identify potential issues and correcting them in a timely manner,” said Mr. McInnis. CSXT imports rail from Eastern Europe and Japan through Wilmington for its track maintenance and repair.

“CSX is a highly valued customer for North Carolina Ports,” said Mr. Kenworthy. “We have been handling their rail at the Port of Wilmington for eight years.”

During their visit, the CSX team also met with Steve Jackson, Senior Manager General Terminal Operations; Debra Winfrey, Manager General Terminal Operations; Tim Wills, Steel Yard Supervisor; Crystal Coston, Cargo Control Supervisor, and Karen Fox, Director of Customer Service.

“We have used other ports over the years, but we have been extremely pleased with the care and attention that the people here in Wilmington give to our cargo,” McInnis added. “We appreciate the manner that your teams are handling our account.”
