AAPA and MARAD Release New Port Planning Toolkit

The U.S. Port Planning and Investment Toolkit (PPIT) has been updated with new sections on planning, feasibility and finance.
 
The PPIT was developed through collaboration between the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD), PFM Group, WSP/Parsons Brinkerhoff and a host of industry experts.

Thousandth Neopanamax Vessel Transits Panama Canal

The Panama Canal Authority has welcomed the 1,000th Neopanamax vessel through the waterway, less than nine months after the inauguration of the Expanded Canal.

On Sunday, March 19, the container ship Mediterranean Shipping Company’s MSC Anzu made the historic 1,000th transit through the Expanded Canal, heading northbound from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

Alan Bog Appointed President of the IFPTA

PRESS RELEASE

The International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA) today announced Mr. Alan Bog has been appointed President of the Association. The appointment is the result of a unanimous vote by the IFPTA Board of Directors at the IFPTA Board of Directors Meeting in November 2016. At the close of PPI Transport Symposium 22, current President, Buddy Greene, will become President Emeritus and continue to support the IFPTA.

Tom Mutz Appointed Treasurer of the IFPTA

The International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA) today announced Mr. Tom Mutz has been appointed Treasurer of the Association. Mr. Mutz’s appointment also names him as the incoming Secretary, a duty he will assume at the close of PPI Transport Symposium 22. The appointment comes as a result of Scott Menzies’ notice to the Board of his intent to step down from the role as Secretary/Treasurer.

On the 15th of November, the Board of Commissioners of the Virginia Port Authority approved the award of contracts to Konecranes for 86 Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) in two contracts. The signing of the contracts took place on the 17th of November.
