On the 15th of November, the Board of Commissioners of the Virginia Port Authority approved the award of contracts to Konecranes for 86 Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) in two contracts. The signing of the contracts took place on the 17th of November.

Good news for West Coast ports

News that the 20,000-member International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) plan to meet again in early November should be welcomed by West Coast shippers who can recall cargo slowdowns that occurred over a nine-month period before being settled in the contract agreement of February 2015.

Vietnam Plans Da Nang Mega-Port

A mega-port is being planned for Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang.

The first phase of the $1.4 billion development is expected to be completed by 2020; the second and third phases by 2030 and 2050 respectively. Initial construction work will include a breakwater, fairways and technical infrastructures, and will be followed by harbors, traffic infrastructure and warehouses.
