Suzano Breaks Industry Record at the Port of Santos with Pulp Shipments

Oct. 8, 2026 (Mais Floresta - Information Services) - Suzano shipped 39,100 tons of pulp in just 24 hours at the Port of Santos (SP), a record for the sector at the port. The operation, carried out on September 20th at Suzano's terminal located within the DP World facilities and operated in partnership with the company, loaded the ships Arborella and Cosco Xing Wang, destined for Europe. The cargo is equivalent to 407 freight train cars or almost four times the weight of the Eiffel Tower. Lined up, the bales would form a line of approximately 134 kilometers.

According to Renan Volpatto, Executive Logistics Manager at Suzano, the result demonstrates the competitiveness and efficiency gains of the operation, built jointly by the Suzano and DP World teams. “This record shows what a well-built partnership can deliver. Together with DP World, we expanded the terminal and invested in new technologies, such as the use of simulators for training, and the people who operate there every day have transformed this preparation into greater productivity and efficiency. This makes our pulp more competitive in the international market and generates value for the entire chain, from the factory to the customer,” he states.

“Achieving this record volume at the Santos port complex is a direct reflection of our long-term strategic vision and continuous investments in modernizing port infrastructure. The strategic and long-term partnership between DP World and Suzano consolidates the terminal as a world-class logistics hub for the outflow of pulp. By combining technological innovation, capacity expansion, and the high level of expertise of our operational teams, we not only optimize ship loading times but also respond to customer needs with an increasingly efficient and sustainable operation,” says Ricardo Generozo, Senior Operations Director at DP World.

Expanded Structure and Trained Teams

The performance is a result of investments made by Suzano and DP World in recent years to expand and modernize the terminal. The warehouse increased from 36,000 m² to 51,000 m² of built area, which raised the static storage capacity by almost 40%, reaching up to 160,000 tons. The annual handling capacity increased from 3.6 million to 5 million tons. The terminal also gained two more overhead cranes, each with a capacity of 40 tons.

The other front is the training of those who operate the systems. Operation simulators have started to be used in the training of teams at the terminal itself, which gives operators more preparation and safety in the day-to-day handling of shipments.

Production Exit Door

The Port of Santos is fundamental for exporting the pulp produced in the Jacareí (SP), Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS) and Três Lagoas (MS) plants. To receive and ship this volume, Suzano has two terminals in the port, the one operating at the DP World facilities and T32, which together have the capacity to handle up to 6.6 million tons of pulp per year and a static capacity of approximately 230,000 tons.

In 2026, Suzano will have already shipped 3.6 million tons of pulp through the Port of Santos, a volume greater than the entire annual production of the Três Lagoas (MS) unit, which has two factories in operation.
